Chaos Chronicles: “The Great Pool Bag Disaster”

I thought I was being that mom for once.

The night before, I packed the perfect pool bag: sunscreen, snacks, towels, extra outfits, floaties, juice boxes — even the “just in case” wipes container that usually gets forgotten. I had my iced coffee ready by 8 AM, my toddler in a matching outfit, and we were officially having a wholesome summer day.

Ten minutes into the drive, my toddler somehow opened an entire family-size bag of Goldfish crackers and dumped them ALL over the backseat while screaming because one broke in half.

We finally get to the pool, and I realize I packed my swimsuit… but forgot theirs.

Cue full toddler meltdown.

So there I am, sweating in the parking lot, bribing a tiny feral human with melted fruit snacks while frantically Googling “closest Target near me.”

By noon, my iced coffee was warm, my kid was wearing a random emergency diaper-swim combo outfit, and I had accepted that absolutely none of this was going according to plan.

But honestly?

We laughed the entire way home.

My toddler fell asleep covered in sunscreen, clutching pool goggles they refused to wear all day, and somehow it still became one of those summer memories I know I’ll never forget.

Motherhood is chaos.
Summer is chaos.
And sometimes the disasters become the best stories. ☀️🖤
